Inside Alethea’s Morning Skincare Routine

Obviously, my own personal skincare is super important to me. My clients ask me all the time what my routine is and how they can replicate it at home. So, I have listed below my personal morning routine, which I think is a great start for most everyone, no matter what age you are.

As the owner of a small business with two different locations, three young kids, one husband, two horses, two dogs, two cats and two goats, time to look after myself is limited! My family is really supportive of me and the goals I have set for myself, but no one can look after my skin but me. So, I follow a simple morning routine to keep me humming throughout the day.

Get Moving

Because we live on a farm, the first thing I do in the morning is make my breakfast rounds. My kids love to help me feed the horses and then I will often ride for 30-45 minutes to get my energy moving. The physical demand of the ride and the connection to the horse is invaluable to me. If I don’t have time for a ride, 30 minutes of yoga can be just as invigorating. Either way, I find moving my body early in the morning sets the tone for the rest of the day.

My Morning Skincare Routine

After I shower, I am religious about my skincare regimen. Consistency pays off in so many ways!

iS Clinical Cleansing Complex

In the morning, start with a gentle cleanser to remove any dirt or oil that may have built up overnight. iS Clinical Cleansing Complex is a complete gel cleansing formula designed to deep clean pores, gently resurface and remove dead skin cells while preserving the skin’s natural protective barrier. It leaves your skin soft without drying it out.

Bella Be Flawless Pads

It will come as no surprise to anyone who knows me, that these pads are the first thing I use once my face is clean. Everyone at Bella swears by them! Our towelettes are full of antioxidants to help brighten the skin and active ingredients to even pigmentation, smooth wrinkles and diminish fine lines.

SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF

I love this serum-in-a-gel because it prevents redness and inflammation on my face. This has a high concentration of antioxidants that are absorbed into the skin plus Vitamin C to prevent premature lines and wrinkles.

Revision Skincare Intellishade TruPhysical

I always go for an SPF around 50 that has zinc and titanium and ingredients that I can pronounce. Revision’s Intellishade TruPhysical is yummy because it’s a tinted moisturizer delivering a fresh color. We often finish off our facials at Bella with this because it not only provides protection from the sun, but gives you a nice even skin tone and helps to blur imperfections.

Revision DEJ Eye Cream

For the delicate skin around my eyes, I use DEJ Eye Cream which visibly reduces the appearance of sagging, wrinkles, redness and hooding around the eye area and eyelid.

Image Skincare Balancing Lip Enhancement Complex

Specifically designed to enhance the appearance and volume of lip contours, I find this product ultra-hydrating and use it throughout the day. Plus, its organic so I feel better about ingesting it.

It’s Not Just about the Products

Because I’m passionate about my skincare regimen and prefer a natural look, I don’t use many cosmetics. I have a pretty busy schedule and lots of people who are depending on me so I need to keep things as simple as possible. That’s why I love my monthly Refresh Laser Facials to keep my skin glowing and Laser Hair Removal so I can just get up and go! I have noticed there is a growing trend of people following a regular skincare routine and seeing an aesthetician, as opposed to using lots of cosmetic products, which I can totally get behind!

Don’t forget to take care of your skin from the inside out. One of the most important things you can do for your skin as you age is to stay hydrated. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day can help keep your skin looking plump and youthful. I am also militant about incorporating foods into my diet that are high in antioxidants, like berries and leafy greens, to help protect the skin from free radical damage. Getting enough sleep and managing stress both contribute to keeping skin looking its best too.

Tips for Building an Effective Skincare Routine

Having a good routine is essential to maintaining healthy and glowing skin. Just because this is what I do every morning, does not necessarily mean it works for everyone. You’ll want to make sure you’re using products that are designed for your skin type.  (You can always ask me or the team at Bella for assistance if needed!).

Here are some tips to help you build an effective skincare routine:

  • Start with the basics – cleanser, moisturizer and SPF
  • Incorporate products that target specific concerns like anti-aging serums
  • Layer appropriately – start with the lightest products (serums) and work your way up to heavier products (creams)
  • Be consistent – stick with the routine and give it time to work

Next time you are at Bella, ask us what products would best suit your skin and how we can help you create an effective morning skincare routine. We love seeing results and are always here to help!
