Eighty percent of skin aging is caused by the sun, and as the summer months approach, it’s important to adjust your skincare routine to protect your skin from the harsh sun and heat. While many people focus on achieving a healthy summer glow, it’s essential to prioritize skin health and protection. Here are some safe skincare tips to keep your skin looking and feeling its best during the summer months:

Reduce the use of retinol and hydroquinone: Both retinol and hydroquinone can make your skin more sensitive to the sun, increasing the risk of sun damage and pigmentation. Consider switching to gentler alternatives during the summer months to protect your skin.

Increase zinc SPF use: Zinc oxide is a physical sunscreen that provides broad-spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays. Make sure to apply a zinc SPF every day, even on cloudy days, and consider layering with a tinted SPF or CC cream for added protection.

Increase vitamin C serum: Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that can help protect your skin from free radical damage caused by UV exposure. Consider using a vitamin C serum like SkinCeuticals Phloretin if you tend to have oily skin, or C E Ferulic if your skin is dry.
