If you struggle with adult acne, you are in luck! Today, I am going to be sharing with you some tips, remedies, and solutions that have been beneficial to many of my clients who were dealing with adult acne.

I would say the biggest and most effective piece of advice I can give you is to establish an effective and consistent skin care routine that will aid in the symptoms of your acne. Skin care is extremely important and there are a lot of great products out there that, when used regularly and correctly, will be extremely beneficial in the appearance and side effects you may be experiencing in your adult acne.

With that said, though, it’s important to note that no skin care routine is one-size-fits-all. Before you even start spending your hard-earned money on the newest skin care products, it’s super important to get to the bottom of what is causing adult acne in the first place.

If you are unsure where to begin when it comes to treating your acne, I highly recommend reaching out to a professional. You have a couple of options when it comes to skin care: visiting a dermatologist or a medical aesthetician. Aestheticians have probably seen it all throughout their careers, and they can work closely with you to create a routine and regimen that will really focus on your skin’s needs and treat any issues you might be dealing with.

Many med spas offer memberships in which you can come in once a month to get a facial as well as get your skin checked by an aesthetician. Our skin is our biggest organ and it’s ever-changing, so it’s important to treat and take care of it by doing regular checkups! At Bella Med Spa, we offer a Bella Transformation Membership, where you’ll get to enjoy treatments that address your individual needs, including addressing acne–prone skin! We’re based in Atlanta, so make sure to check it out if you’re in the area. If not, I’m sure there’s a similar offer at a med spa closer to your zip code!

Wash your face in the morning and at night:

Wash your face in the morning and at night: Cleansing your skin is extremely important. If there is going to be one “routine” that you take on, washing your face is the one I would recommend. You would be surprised (and maybe a little disgusted) to see just how much dirt and bacteria we accumulate on our faces throughout our day and while we sleep. I’m willing to bet you that simply adding this step into your routine will make a world of difference when it comes to the appearance of acne.

Use a cold compress: A cold compress can be extremely beneficial when it comes to reducing the appearance of redness and swelling that can result from adult acne. You can apply a cold compress daily or just when you are dealing with a flare-up.

Wear sunscreen: Sunscreen is extremely important and I would recommend it to anyone to avoid premature aging, but particularly those with troubled skin.

Zinc: Zinc has been said to be beneficial in treating acne. You can choose to take zinc as a supplement or you can also break open zinc capsules and apply the vitamin directly to the skin.

P.S: Taking the right vitamins is essential for our skin’s health, so don’t forget to check out this post I wrote on the best vitamins for skin care.

Take vitamin C: Another great vitamin for clear skin is vitamin C, especially if adult acne has created spots and scars on your face. In short, this vitamin uses electrons to neutralize free radicals (such as pollution on your face) and helps brighten your skin as well as fade out acne scars.
